Overview: When Nintendo puts out a shooter, you know it’s going to be uniquely Nintendo – colorful, lighthearted, and not quite like anything else. In Splatoon, you play as an Inkling: a part-human, part-squid character. You shoot colorful ink at opponents – not bullets – as well as coat the walls and floors with your ink color. If you cover a surface with your own ink, you can hide from enemies, travel faster, or climb the walls. But traveling through an opponent’s color will slow you down. Splatoon’s single-player campaign involves infiltrating and splatting a hive of octopuses. Multiplayer is team-based, and you can use the Wii U’s GamePad to view the map and instantly warp towards the location of teammates, as well as use gyroscopic controls to help you aim.
